About the Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500g Minced 15% Beef

  • 4 slices American Cheese, substitute for Gouda Slices if you don’t like Plastic Cheese

  • 4 Burger Buns

  • 1 White Onion, sliced in half moons

  • ½ head Lettuce

  • 1 Large Tomato, sliced

  • 12 Round Pickles

Hamburger Sauce: (8 servings)

  • ¼ cup Mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp Ketchup

  • 1 ½ tsp Mustard

  • ¼ tsp Garlic Powder

  • ½ tsp White Vinegar

  • ½ tsp Sugar

  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Preparation

  1. Divide the meat into 4 pieces and loosely form into balls. Mix the sauce together.

  2. Fry the onions until soft and caramelised on medium low heat, approximately 8-12 minutes.

  3. Heat pan to a high heat and add aa small amount of oil until it just coats the bottom of the pan.

  4. Place a hamburger ball on the pan and using a piece of baking paper press down hard with a large spatula. Try and get the patty as thick as you can. Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side.

  5. Flip and add some of the caramelised onions, then a slice of cheese, cook for another 1-2 minutes.

  6. Toast the burger buns on medium heat in a dry pan then build the burger.

  7. Coat both buns with the sauce then stack the bottom bun with lettuce, then tomatoes, then burger, then pickles and finally bun.
