empower trustees - year two!
We are so excited to announce that we are now recruiting for the second year of our Empower Trustees programme!
Empower Trustees is a leadership programme and collaborative learning opportunity to find out about the leadership and governance skills you need to be a trustee. With less than 1% of charity trustees are under the age of 25 and 1 in 12 trustees named either John or David, it’s clear that we need to shake things up to ensure the outlook and work of Scotland’s charities is fresh, inclusive and diverse.
The Empower Trustees programme consists of 6 months of training on leadership skills and feminist governance with Masterclass sessions with experts on being a trustee to support your development. It will also give you the opportunity to secure a mentorship with an existing trustee in the third sector in Scotland.
You will graduate this programme with an opportunity to join the Empower Project's Board so you can put what you have learned into practice straight away and a network of fellow mentees who are also passionate about making an impact and changing the world we live in.
So who can apply? This programme is open to women (cis + trans) aged 16-25 living in Scotland. You don't need to have any experience or qualifications, just a want to learn more about being a trustee! We particularly welcome applications from those who are traditionally underrespresented in positions of power, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, women from ethnic minorities, women who are care experienced, young carers, disabled young women and women with experience of poverty.
The programme will begin in January 2022, and applications close on the 17th December 2021.
