Micro-volunteering: low on time, big on impact

We're really excited to launch our new micro-volunteering opportunities for folk from equalities groups who want to get involved but don't have the time or the space to take on long term project. Micro-volunteering is a great way to support a cause you're passionate about from the comfort of your own home, bus, on a spare evening or in your community.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who are interested in tech, digital, young people, feminism and campaigning. We want to hear from a range of people who are black, from ethnic minority backgrounds, folk who have a disability, or people who are LGBTQI. You don’t have to have done any previous volunteering, or have done anything around these issues before- just an interest and some time to do something!

Available volunteer roles:

Social media

We’re looking for volunteers to get involved with our social media. This can be blogging, playlists, or finding photos to go on instagram and snapchat.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who want to learn more about social media, or who wants to share their thoughts on tech, digital and young people.

You can do this once, once a month, or once a week. Whatever works for you. This will be done from home.

Hobnobbing volunteers

Would you like to come along to a policy meeting and meet with people making decisions? This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in getting an insight into parliament and councils and how behind the scenes campaigning works.

You will get to do this about every month or six weeks.

Event organising volunteers

Would you like to learn more about what it takes to put on an event? We’re looking for people to help plan our events- we’ve got our AGM coming up, so come along and see what the deal is before you get involved. Other events we’ve put on include a disco, a picnic, workshops and a market.

You could do this once.

Fundraising

Would you like to help us fundraise to keep promoting feminist equality in the digital age? We’re looking for people to help us raise money for the charity, this role may overlap with the events volunteer but could also include setting up just giving pages, organizing folks to do activities representing us such as runs, tough mudder, skydiving and any other weird and wonderful ideas you may have. We are pretty open to options and would be happy to discuss any ideas you may have, this would also be supported so you wouldn't be on your own.

You could do this once or more often, it’s up to you.

If any of these seem up your street, email us on info@theempowerproject.co.uk and Katie or Ellie will get back to you.
